A CHEATING husband has been jailed for a minimum of 22 years for having his wife killed in 1981.
Allen Morgan, 74, was found guilty of plotting to murder Carol Morgan, 36.
She was battered to death in the storeroom of the couple's shop 43 years ago.
Carol's death meant their business debts could be cleared by her life insurance payout, the court heard.
Allen was also free to continue his relationship with Margaret Spooner, with whom he was having an affair. They are now married.
Margaret, 75, was found not guilty of plotting the murder.
The court heard Carol was "hardworking and loving", and was devoted to her two kids, Dean and Jane.
Allen took the pair - who were his stepchildren and aged 14 and 12 at the time to the cinema to give himself an alibi and allow a paid hitman to murder Carol, the jury was told.
