Keir to Mirror readers: Feel the hope ...there will be change..we will feel pride again

And yesterday, speaking to the Mirror from the yellow seats of a non-league football club in the heart of England, Keir Starmer vowed to deliver it.

The Labour leader spoke of his plans for a fairer future for all after 14 years of hell in which the rich got richer and the poor poorer.

Mr Starmer promised he would "roll up my sleeves from minute one" if he sweeps into No10 this week, and bring back the pride damaged by Tory division.

Pledging to "restore hope to the country" on the eve of tomorrow's General Election, Mr Starmer added: "It's desperately needed.

"Across the country, people are saying they want change.

"I haven't met many people who've said, 'I am perfectly happy with things as they are.

"Almost everybody says, 'Look, things aren't working properly, the health service is on its knees, I don't feel better off."

Mr Starmer spoke during the final stages of his campaign trail at Hucknall Town Football Club in Nottinghamshire, where he met ordinary people who have suffered the harsh realities of Tory rule.

And he urged Mirror readers to relegate Rishi Sunak by delivering a thumping Labour majority tomorrow so he can kick off his ambitious bid to improve lives.
