THE family of murdered schoolgirl Holly Newton have told of their fury over the 17-year jail sentence given to her former boyfriend.
Jealous Logan MacPhail silently stalked the 15-year-old through a town before stabbing her to death in a frenzied attack because they had split up and he feared she was seeing someone else.
The victim's mum Micala Trussler wept and grandad Philip Green stormed out of the court after MacPhail was given life with a minimum 17-year term yesterday.
He could be out in 15 years and 89 days because of time on remand, after a judge ruled he had not gone with the intention of killing Holly but to hurt himself.
Philip, wearing a Justice for Holly T-shirt, said outside court: "The sentence should have been a lot longer. They should put him in prison and leave him there. Our whole family has changed.
