Left alone to die

FOUR young brothers died in a fire after they were locked in at home alone while their mum went to Sainsbury's, a court has heard.

Deveca Rose, 29, is accused of the manslaughter of her two sets of twins, Leyton and Logan Hoath, three, and Kyson and Bryson, four, plus cruelty.

The terrified boys desperately cried for help but neighbours who kicked the door down could not reach them.

They died huddled under a bed surrounded by piles of rubbish and human excrement, jurors were told.

Prosecutor Kate Lumsdon KC said: "It is the Crown's case that Ms Rose left her children unattended when she went to Sainsbury's that evening.
