'New low' as Lawrence police face no charges

A DECISION not to charge four police officers over the botched investigation into the murder of Stephen Lawrence has been upheld, sparking outrage from his mother.

Baroness Doreen Lawrence called it a "new low" in the way her family have been treated since the killing in 1993.

An independent prosecutor has upheld the decision that was challenged by Stephen's parents under the victim's right to review scheme.

The Crown Prosecution Service said it decided not to bring charges after finding there was not enough evidence against the officers for a realistic prospect of conviction.
