NHS launches gastric balloon

A WEIGHT loss pill that expands into a balloon in the stomach is being given to NHS patients for the first time.

The balloon is tucked inside a capsule and attached to a thin tube before it is swallowed.

It is then filled with around a pint of water during a 15-minute doctor's visit.

The treatment makes obese people feel full so they eat less.
