No HS2... but you can fill in your potholes

RISHI Sunak has been accused of treating northerners as "mugs" as he announced a £4.7billion fund for roads and public transport after axing HS2.

The PM and Transport Secretary Mark Harper will today unveil the Local Transport Fund at a meeting in the Yorkshire & Humber region.

The seven-year funding will allow local leaders to invest in projects such as new roads, filling potholes and refurbishing bus stations.

But it will not be available until April 2025, after the next election.
