WITH a smile on his face and a wave for royal fans, the King looked in good spirits as he left hospital after prostate treatment yesterday.
The Princess of Wales was also discharged from the same building following her abdominal surgery two weeks ago and is "making good progress".
Charles and the future Queen both thanked wellwishers for their support as they were being cared for in the exclusive private London Clinic.
And the King was particularly pleased the publicity around his procedure to treat an enlarged prostate has helped raise awareness of the condition which affects tens of thousands of men each year.
The NHS said last week it had experienced an 11-fold increase in the amount of traffic to its website, and credited the King for his candour over his problem.
Buckingham Palace said: "His Majesty would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit, and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days.
"He would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week and is delighted to learn his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness.
