Oxygen found in furthest galaxy

THE discovery of oxygen in a far-distant galaxy means the universe may have developed much faster than previously thought, according to astronomers.

The element has been detected in Jades-GS-z14-0, a galaxy so far away that its light took 13.4 billion years to reach the Alma telescope in Chile's Atacama Desert.
