Top cop blasts carnival minority who try to spoil fun for thousands

THOUSANDS of revellers joined the party as Notting Hill Carnival reached a colourful crescendo in the bank holiday sunshine.

But an exasperated police chief from the Met condemned the violence that had cast a cloud over the weekend.

Three people were stabbed at the carnival on Sunday, with one woman, 32, left fighting for her life in hospital.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan, below, who is in charge of policing for the event, said: "We saw the first day marred by unacceptable violence. Three people were stabbed. We only very narrowly avoided a fatality.
