ONE in ten patients wait more than 12 hours in A&amp;E, official data shows.
NHS England agreed to publish total time from arrival in emergency departments after years of playing down waits.
Until now it only gave data on the time from the decision-toadmit to discharge.
The data shows 125,505 faced waits over 12 hours in A&amp;E in&nbsp;February, 11% of attendees. Dr Tim Cooksley, president of the Society for Acute Medicine, said: "Caring for patients in such inappropriate environments poses significant risks."
Waits are likely to have got worse due to the junior doctor strike. But the Tories are refusing to hold talks until a 35% rise&nbsp;demand is dropped.&nbsp;The four-day strike will continue until 7am tomorrow with hundreds of thousands of appointments postponed.
Dr Layla McCay, of the NHS Confederation, said: "We urge&nbsp;government and unions to resume talks. Average wait for treatment is 14 weeks.
