Daisy the dog finds missing cat Mowgli trapped in a mine shaft

It sounds like a plot from a Lassie show but a pet owner has told how her dog found her missing cat after leading her through woods to the entrance of a disused mine shaft.

Michele Rose had given up hope of finding Mowgli after the tomcat failed to return home for six days because it was stuck 100ft down the mine shaft.

Michele was out for a walk in the woods with Daisy when the dog started "going berserk", inexplicably running in and out between the trees.

Michele was stunned when Daisy guided her along a footpath to an old mine. And in scenes reminiscent of the 1950s TV series Lassie, the dog "stopped dead in her tracks" next to the mine entrance.
