PHILLIP Schofield has apologised for lying about an affair he had with a younger male ITV worker.
The presenter, 61, was immediately axed by his agent and said he would not be hosting the British Soap awards, the only job he had lined up.
Schofield, host of This Morning with Holly Willoughby until last week, called the affair "unwise, not illegal".
PHILLIP Schofield's TV career looked to be over last night as he was sacked by his agent for lying to them and ITV bosses about an affair with a young male colleague.
The presenter, 61, axed by This Morning last week, apologised for misleading them over a relationship with a runner on the daytime show which was more than a friendship.
He called it "unwise but not illegal".
Schofield also quit his plans to host The British Soap Awards, meaning he has no future TV work lined up.
The affair took place while he was still married to his wife of 30 years, Stephanie Lowe, 59, the mother of his two daughters Molly, 28, and Ruby, 26.
He had insisted that it was only a friendship at the time, something he last night admitted was untrue.
