WITH nothing to lose, 10 angry men will try to get back into the Ashes at Headingley by copying the ice cold heroics of Ben Stokes.

Their skipper's performance in the second innings at Lord's is now the template for the rest of a team looking for a way to make an impact and not only right any wrongs, but get a first win on the ledger.

That is what is most important for England in Leeds this week - victory at the end of five days thanks to their cricketing ability above all else.

But neither they nor Australia can ignore the effect Jonny Bairstow's Lord's dismissal will have on the game, the crowd and their own performance.

And while Stokes and England are itching to take out their frustrations in the middle, they have been told to keep their emotions in check.

Controlled aggression is the tactic of choice for a match dripping with significance beyond it being an Ashes Test.
