TV hardman Ross Kemp is shaping up for a comeback as Grant Mitchell for EastEnders' 40th birthday in February.

Ross swaggered into Albert Square as Grant in 1990, shortly after Steve McFadden as brother Phil, and became a firm favourite.

The tough guy who came to blows with his brother and married barmaid Tiffany, played by Martine McCutcheon, ended up in all kinds of bother.

Now Ross, 60, has hinted that a return to Walford may be on the cards and has talked to people at the BBC soap.

He said: "I've recently had a chat with a couple of them.

"I can't tell you what I'm doing at the moment. I stay in contact with certain people but I'm not going to mention any names."
