Spring cleaning gardens to help save our wildlife
Daily Mirror UK
|March 17, 2025
THE number of sick and injured wild animals taken into RSPCA centres has rocketed in the past year, and our messy gardens are part of the problem.
Last year, 10,209 wild animals were admitted compared to 7,519 in 2023. Hedgehog admissions were by far the highest at 2,275, followed by wood pigeons (1,113) and blackbirds (288).
It includes a hedgehog that was rescued after getting tangled in an old tennis net dumped in a garden.
