SWIM IN PARIS' RIVER? ARE YOU IN SEINE?

ALEX YEE will plunge into the River Seine's murky currents, insisting Team GB's triathlon stars will have no fears about the water's purity.

Paris 2024 organisers had considered scrapping the triathlon swimming leg after the river failed water-quality tests last month.

But Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo took a swim in the Seine last week to prove it was safe.

And Yee, silver medallist in Tokyo, said: "Clean water is something we need to do our sport it's extremely important. Seeing some of the stuff around the UK has been a bit worrying, but, as athletes, we need 100 percent trust in the conditions we are going to be given.

"The most important thing for this race is that they are making a proactive effort to clean up the water.

"I've been very lucky in my career that I've never been ill after racing."
