Teachers struggling with stress of work
  • 37 percentage of teachers who feel stressed 80% of time at school
  • 22 percentage of teachers polled who say they work a 60-hour week

STRESSED teachers are buckling under the pressures of the job, with nearly half finding their workloads unmanageable.

It leads to difficulty sleeping and weight loss, with some teachers on antidepressants due to the strain.

Some 48% said they struggle most or all of the time, and 37% said they feel stressed at least 80% of the time.

Most said pressure must be eased with more funding, smaller classes and a reformed inspection system, according to a survey of more than 17,800 National Education Union members in England and Wales.
