THE POWER FEARS WRIGHT BURNOUT

DARTS royalty Phil 'The Power' Taylor fears struggling Peter Wright may have to scale down his schedule to avoid burnout on the oche.

In the week Taylor's pal Ronnie O'Sullivan claimed snooker was "bang in trouble" because too many players are chasing finite prize money, the 16-time world champion warned darts should beware of reaching a saturation point.

'Snakebite' Wright's Premier League campaign hit a new low on Thursday night, when he branded his performance "rubbish" in a 6-5 defeat by Michael van Gerwen, which left him bottom of the table.

And Taylor, who returns to Blackpool in the Senior Tour Champion of Champions event this weekend, fears age is catching up with Wright.

The Power won the last of his world titles 10 years ago, aged 52- and he says Wright, now a year older, may have to curtail his schedule to sustain a place in the top four.
