THEY were promised "endless horizons" but passengers who shelled out vast sums for a three-year round-the-world cruise have found themselves stuck in Belfast for three months.
According to their itinerary, they are meant to be in Le Havre, France, and looking forward to sipping wine in sunny Bordeaux, having already visited the Faroe Islands and Iceland.
But due to technical hitches with its rudders and gearbox, the Villa Vie Odyssey has been stranded in rainy Northern Ireland since May 30.
Passengers are able to use the ship's facilities in the day but must leave in the evening and sleep in hotels despite having paid eyewatering sums for their adventure.
According to the website of Villa Vie Residences, which runs the cruise, passengers can pay as they go or buy their own cabin outright.
