AFTER years of watching struggling Brits get poorer while the Tories lavish cash on rich pals, Rachel Reeves has vowed to redress the balance.
The Shadow Chancellor pledged to boost the spending power of ordinary people battered by the crippling cost of living crisis on Rishi Sunak's watch.
She will also call time on ministers wasting our cash on trips by private jets. And at her party conference speech in Liverpool today, Ms Reeves is to announce Labour would claw back billions of pounds lost to dodgy Covid deals.
In an interview with the Mirror, she urged voters to trust her to manage the country's finances if Labour win power at the election.
Ms Reeves said: "I know sometimes you say you're gonna grow the economy and it's like, 'Well that's fine but what does that mean for me and my family?' I want to set that out. It's a thriving high street, good jobs where you live, paying a wage you can afford to support a family on.
"More money in your pocket, so you'll be able to do some of the things you've had to cut back on because of the cost of living crisis.
