The star, 54, who was the slot's first female host, said: "It has been such a gift to do this show, to follow wonderful Terry [Wogan] and Chris [Evans], tough acts to follow.

"Pretty cool to be the first lass to host, I won't be the last. Remember, girls, you can do anything" Zoe, 54, received messages from singer Kylie Minogue, England footballer Alessia Russo and Doctor Who star David Tennant, as she said goodbye yesterday.

She was tearful again when her son Woody told her she had done an "amazing job" as she signed off, in a move confirmed last month.
