1 IN 4 PARENTS STRUGGLE TO FEED KIDS

MORE than a quarter of parents have struggled to provide enough food for their children in the past year amid a cost-of-living crisis, a charity wars.

Barnardo's Scotland said that too many children are missing out on a "good childhood" as parents struggle to put meals on the table and heat homes.

Research for Barnardo's found 27 per cent of Scottish parents of kids aged 18 or under have struggled to provide food for them in the past 12 months.

More than half (54 per cent) said they had to reduce spending on food to save money in the past year, while 7 per cent said they used a food bank as a direct result of cost-of-living challenges.

The charity is urging the UK and Scottish governments to act, calling on the former to lift the two-child limit on benefits.
