THE heartbroken family of murdered schoolboy Justin McLaughlin have demanded action to tackle youth violence before another child is killed.

Justin, 14, died from a stab wound to the heart after a senseless attack at Glasgow's High Street station.

His killer, Daniel Haig, 18, was found guilty of murder at the High Court in Glasgow last week.

Now Justin's family have bravely spoken out to ask for better support for teens to avoid other tragedies - backing the Daily Record's Our Kids... Our Future campaign.

Justin's auntie Maggie McLaughlin told the Record: "Youth violence is becoming extreme.

"I'm worried another child will die if something isn't done now to tackle the issue.

"Justin had his whole life ahead of him and it was taken away in one single moment. He was only 14 and on his way home from McDonald's with his pals.

"The Scottish Government needs to do more in the way of intervention and prevention in the community to get young kids away from roaming the streets and becoming involved in violent crime.

Justin had travelled into Glasgow with pals on October 16, 2021. He had returned to the station where Haig-who he had never met before - was waiting with a friend.

A remark was shouted towards the pair about the area in Glasgow they were from and Haig, who was armed with a knife, ran at the group and a fight broke out.
