A STRING of Scottish restaurants have been hit with huge fines for dodging more than £1million in tax.

Three businesses were named and shamed by HMRC on its list of "deliberate tax defaulters" aimed at deterring firms from evading payments.

The boss of the Sun Inn in Dalkeith, Midlothian, the firm behind former restaurant Life Glasgow and the company previously operating Manjaros, also in the city, were hit with penalties on top of the sums they were ordered to pay back.
