4 cops rescued from 3000ft isle mountain

FOUR police officers had to be rescued in appalling conditions from a Scottish island peak.

The weather was so bad that a search and rescue helicopter had to turn back.

In the end it took the local mountain rescue team eight-and-a-half hours to get the quartet - two men and two women - back to safety.

The off-duty members of Police Scotland were climbing the Cuillin Ridge on Skye when they got into difficulty on Saturday night.
