Unite yesterday confirmed 1000 of its members including technicians, security officers and janitors have voted to strike over what they see as a real terms pay cut.
Staff at Glasgow, Strathclyde, Dundee, Abertay and Napier universities have voted to walk out over a failure to reach agreement on the 2023/24 pay award. It is expected Unite will release strike dates next week.
General Secretary Sharon Graham said: "The UCEA (University and Colleges Employers Association) has not only failed to put a fair wage offer on the table, it is attempting to impose a real terms pay cut, which is totally unacceptable."
