Test 'addict' Broad joins game's greats with mammoth haul

STUART BROAD bagged his 600th wicket to keep England in the Ashes hunt and grinned: "I'm still addicted to Test cricket." 

Snaring Travis Head in the bouncer trap at fine leg, Broad helped restrict the Aussies to 299-8 in the fourth Test at Emirates Old Trafford.

The leading wicket-taker in this summer's Ashes (18 to date) became only the fifth bowler to reach the 600-wicket milestone - and he was pleased to do it on his sidekick's home stage.

Broad, 37, said: "It's really special and getting my 600th wicket bowling from the James Anderson End has a nice ring to it as well.

"I took my 500th wicket here as well but that was in front of no crowd during lockdown - my dad was only here to see it because he was the match referee, so to get an ovation from the Old Trafford crowd was special. I've always enjoyed playing here."
