£8m in tax? I don't care

SINGER Ed Sheeran paid £158,917 a week in tax last year, figures have revealed.

The Perfect star paid himself a dividend of £18.3million in 2022, a £10million pay rise on 2021.

But he handed over more than £8million to the taxman, in keeping with his pledge to "help people" with his wealth.

He makes a point of not seeking to reduce his tax burden.

Asked about his riches, he once said: "It is earn a penny, spend a penny' with me.
