But that didn't stop the former Rangers star becoming a fully paid-up member of the Aussie's fan club and he is now backing him to end Tottenham's long trophy drought.

Hutton was a member of the last Spurs side to win a major prize when they beat Chelsea in the 2008 League Cup Final.

Postecoglou kicks off his second season at Tottenham when they travel to Leicester for their Premier League opener on Monday night.

And Hutton said: "It's always been the same at Spurs, they want to see good football and they need to win something.

The remit for Ange going forward has to be a top-four finish and a trophy.

"I love listening to Ange and everything he does. The way he looks at football is very gung-ho, full-backs up and in, playing with No.10s. It's brilliant to watch.
