Growing up in an adapted home, the low kitchen counters would hurt his back and he hit his head on door frames.
But he hardly noticed the difference between him, his parents Vicki and Darrell and siblings Jennifer and Andrew until he started school. Peet, 25, said: "It wasn't until I saw the kids and their parents that I realised I was in a strange world.
"I'd cry to my mum, 'I wish I was a dwarf too." The author and musician, from Los Angeles, got used to strangers accusing him of not being genetically related to his family.
He said: "I actually find it hilarious now to be convincing people that I'm part of my own family."
