ATM AXE LEFT A 'CASH DESERT'

A NEW drop in cash machines could leave parts of Scotland "cash deserts", an MP warns.

Owen Thompson said elderly and vulnerable people will be left in an impossible situation without free access to cash.

Statistics from the House of Commons library showed the number of ATMs in Scotland dropped from 4869 in 2018 to 3584 this year - fewer than nine machines per 10,000 people.
