BAU Quicksand QAP is lost ESCE in firth

A BODY was found yesterday during a search for a pensioner who went missing after she was washed into the Solway Firth and got stuck in quicksand.

A full-scale search got under way yesterday for Shona Campbell in the Cummertrees and Powfoot area of Dumfriesshire.

The 74-year-old had gone for a walk on the shore near West MossSide Caravan Park at about 5pm on Monday and got into difficulty in the mud little more than an hour before high tide was due.

It is believed Shona called 999 for help and a search was launched.
