BRITISH tennis' poster girl Emma Raducanu made a winning start to Wimbledon then admitted it hadn't been pretty.
With golden balls David Beckham watching from the Royal Box, Raducanu delivered a straight sets win against Renata Zarazua.
But the former US Open champ admitted she had followed England's lead at the Euros by 'winning ugly'.
Like the thick blanket of cloud cover, she made heavy weather of her 7-6 6-3 win over an opponent who was only summoned to play at the last minute.
