It's a star's life, hanging with Jedward and eating Lucy Spraggan's Tunnocks

THE Barrowland Ballroom is legendary, a place where the big singers have come to play over the years – and now my name can be added to the list!

Am I dreaming? I sang for 20 minutes to a packed crowd there over the weekend and I’m still in a daze.

Liam Gallagher, Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry, Pete Doherty, Paolo Nutini, Texas, Travis, The Bay City Rollers…. I’ve covered them all and many more at the Barras as a journalist, but never act-ually thought I’d be up there, rousing the “up for it” Glasgow crowd to sing along.

It was 100 times more nervewracking than school musicals – something that still makes my heart pound – and I needed so much water for my cotton wool mouth that I never left the loo.

My journey began, pre-Covid, with lessons from amazing coach Robert Wishart after deciding to add songs to my hosting work.
