BIN STRIKES ON AFTER NEW PAY DEAL REJECTED

BIN strikes have moved closer after council workers represented by the country's biggest union voted to throw out the latest pay offer.

Unison said that 86 per cent of its members who voted had opted against a 3.6 per cent uplift in their wages.

The union said its council members were unhappy at being offered less than other workers such as teachers including Unison has a mandate for strike action by refuse workers across 13 local authorities Fife, Glasgow, Inverclyde, North Lanarkshire, Perth & Kinross, West Lothian and South Lanarkshire.
