FOR two years, Brad Pitt's new girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, has stayed out of the limelight. So when the couple walked down the red carpet in Venice it was a bold declaration, first and foremost telling the world: It's official, we're an item.
But secondly, it was a defiant message from Brad that said: Angelina? She's in the past. Get over it.
His appearance with jewellery designer Ines, 34, at the premiere of his film Wolfs, shows he has moved on, even as his divorce from Angelina Jolie rumbles on.
It might have helped that pal George Clooney, 63, his co-star in Wolfs, was in Venice, too, along with his wife Amal, 46, to show support.
Brad is keen to start a new chapter following his messy break-up from Angelina, 49, and his bitter fallouts with their children Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-yearold twins Knox and Vivienne.
An LA marketing and PR executive who has known the star for years says: "The reality of Brad's life is that he is living two very different worlds professionally and privately.
"Away from the cameras, he has been on a long journey dealing with his war with Angie, which plays out through lawyer interactions, and very little interaction with his kids.
"Of course he wants to be a force in their lives but it has not played out the way he thought." The executive, who has been involved in numerous movies with Brad, adds: "He and Ines have been solid for well over a year now and she has become his rock during all this.
"But another aspect of Brad and Ines being pictured together is it means that the narrative changes about him.
"It is less about Angelina and more about him moving on."
Brad must welcome that change in narrative. Because despite splitting with Angelina in 2016 and being declared legally single in 2019, his life is still overshadowed by their toxic, yet-to-be-finalised divorce.
