THE recluse who allegedly shot dead a British girl outside her French home had been locked in a land dispute with her family.
Solaine Thornton, 11, was killed by a shot to the heart late on Saturday.
Her sister Celeste, eight, was unhurt but fled screaming: "My sister is dead".
Their parents Adrian, 52 and Rachel, 49, were seriously injured.
Police say they arrested neighbour, Dutchman Dirk Raats, 71, after a brief siege in the hamlet of Saint-Herbot, north of Quimper, Brittany.
