AN ORIGINAL painting by King Charles produced for a children's TV programme emerged for sale has 31 years later.
The then Prince of Wales was recorded for the BBC show painting a study of Lochnagar, a mountain above Balmoral, at his easel before being interrupted by noisy children.
He then started telling them the story of "The Legend of Lochnagar" which was based on the 1980 book he wrote titled The Old Man of Lochnagar.
He narrated the animated TV adaptation which was broadcast in 1993. King Charles' unfinished water-colour painting was picked up after filming by a member of the production team who was given permission to keep it.
She had it mounted and framed and hung it on a wall of the landing of her home in Somerset for 31 years.
She has now decided to sell it at auction where it is expected to fetch&nbsp;&pound;15,000. Chris Yeo, of auctioneers Clevedon Salerooms of Bristol, said: "King Charles is an accomplished and enthusiastic amateur artist and is an honoury member of the Royal Academy.
"We have already had a lot of interest in it from the UK, America and Australia, especially given that he has very recently taken to the throne."
King Charles was taught to paint by teacher Robert Waddell, at Gordonstoun boarding school in Elgin.
The 15in by 15in painting of Lochnagar will be sold on March 14.
