THE son of 90s Scots pop star Finley Quaye took his own life after his music career stalled, an inquest was told.
Caleb Quaye, 27, was working as a roadie for bands and had moved in with his mum, Mercedes Gutierrez.
At an inquest in Brighton into Caleb's death on July 7 - a week after his final gig at a club - Mercedes told how she found him dead.
Coroner Joanne Andrews heard that Caleb was a musician but had been struggling due to lack of musical success and the break-up of a relationship.
Mercedes said his band had not gone as far as he had wanted.
She added he was drinking more than usual and self-harming.
Mercedes said: "He had self-harmed before and cigarette burns on his face were selfinflicted.
"He never mentioned suicide but said he was going to a dark place.
"He would set up stages for other musicians to earn money.
