The target of having patients begin treatment within 62 days of being referred to specialists was also missed for about a third of those with prostate&nbsp;cancer, according to the latest Public Health Scotland (PHS) data.
It shows that of the 4624 Scots referred to specialists with an urgent suspicion of cancer between July and September this year, 72 per cent started treatment within 62 days. That is down from 73.7 per cent in the previous three months and below the 95 per cent target.
The data shows no health board in Scotland achieved the 62-day target.
Scottish Conservative health spokesman Dr Sandesh Gulhane said: "These figures are truly terrifying."
The Scottish Government said: "Today's data shows that diagnostic pressures remain." And five health boards did not meet the waiting times standard for drug and alcohol treatments.
The Scottish standard is for 90 per cent of people referred to wait no longer than three weeks.
Between July and September 92.3 per cent waited three weeks or less.
