THE move to legalise cannabis prescriptions has been branded “a disaster”.

Many people still can’t get it from their GP despite the law changing five years ago.

Now, campaigners are urging ministers to clear up the confusion faced by medical professionals.

The lack of prescriptions leaves some families footing a bill of £1000 a month privately or buying it from Holland.

SNP MP Ronnie Cowan says the UK Government “c l ear ly d i dn’ t understand the problem” when it changed the law to allow doctors to prescribe cannabis five years ago.

Many families who live with epilepsy still cannot get the treatment on the NHS, with only three families in the UK being prescribed it free.

Some are being forced to shell out thousands of pounds each year on prescriptions for their loved ones.
