Council boss quits after sex pest claims

THE leader of Edinburgh City Council has quit after he was accused of bombarding two Ukrainian refugees with sexual messages on social media.

Our sister paper the Sunday Mail revealed how councillor Cammy Day had contacted two Ukrainian refugees on social media with messages to ask about their sexual preferences, tried to meet for dates and sent compliments on their looks.

One Ukrainian national, who fled the Russian invasion in 2022, told the paper how they were bombarded with messages from the politician when they arrived in Edinburgh.

The messages show Day asking sexually explicit questions, sending love heart emojis and repeatedly asking the individual if they want to "meet up for wine".
