A DANGEROUS type of concrete at the centre of a major safety scare south of the Border has been found in 37 Scots schools.

Reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete is a lightweight material used from the 50s up to the mid-90s which is being assessed after it was linked to a roof collapse at a Kent primary school in 2018.

More than 100 schools in England have been closed, with pupils placed in temporary accomodation.

Last night, the Scottish Government said it has "sought to reassure ministers" that mitigation is in place to avoid disruption at the schools affected.
