ATHLETICS hero Steve Cram has told how he fears he flashed the Queen after a shorts malfunction during the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh.
The former 1500m world champ said the late monarch was watching on binoculars and clapping as he found himself with "everything hanging out".
The celebrated British middle distance runner tried to shield&nbsp; himself with other runners during the race but had to move to the front towards the end at just the moment Her Majesty was watching keenly.
The 62-year-old, who had already won the 800m at the 1986 championships, said he noticed&nbsp;his shots had started to disintegrate just before the race but was told he didn't have time to change them
The BBC athletics commentator told the All About podcast: "I went to the track referee and I said I'm going to have to change my shorts, everything's hanging out' and he said 'Steve, you can't, it's the Commonwealth games, everything is kicking off in 90 seconds'.
"I crossed the line thinking 'the Queen is watching'. I ran down the steps, thought I'd got away with it.
"But on the news there was a clip of me and the Queen with her binoculars out and clapping. I hope it was the fact I was running well that she was so enthused.
