BRITAIN'S most popular radio presenter Ken Bruce has revealed the real reasons he quit the BBC.
The Scots broadcasting legend said he didn't like some of the newer music he was made to play and he feared being surrounded by colleagues who would see him as "the grumpy old man".&nbsp;Ken, 72, remained Ken Bruce&nbsp;hugely popular with listeners, pulling in 8.5million on Radio 2 until he left in April for Greatest Hits Radio, where he has already added more than 1.25million to its mid-morning show.
Meanwhile, his old BBC slot, now filled by Vernon Kay, has lost 1.4million listeners in that time.
Ken spent three decades presenting Radio 2's mid-morning show, where his mild-mannered style and Popmaster music quiz helped build the biggest audience in UK radio.
Opening up on what prompted him to call time, he said: "It was a long time and I thought, I'm doing the same thing every day and there was a point of saying that I can't enthuse over all the new music I'm having to play as much as I could over the old music.
"I was the youngster on the station and then almost overnight I became the veteran and I didn't want to become the old grump in the corner saying, 'Things aren't what they used to be'.
"I just felt I would get kind of more kind of bitter and entrenched."
