A RUGBY fan has been left devastated after discovering her dad's dog destroyed her passport just a week before the World Cup final.
Ellis McLeod had forked out &pound;1845 on the trip to Paris to see South Africa face New Zealand.
But boisterous pup Ashley chewed through her document thinking it was a toy, when Ellis was on a work call.
Dundonian Ellis, 26, who has her own dog, Louie, shared the tale online and it has gone viral.
The rugby daft HR advisor explained that she quickly called the passport office when she discovered the damage, only to be told she wouldn't be able to get a new one in time.
She said: "Get a dog, they said. It will be fun, they said. Supposed to be going to France for the Rugby World Cup Final."
One person wrote: "Don't think that they want you to go." 
While another said: "I'd say chance it but the dog ate my passport' excuse might not work as well as the dog ate my homework one".
Ellis has made her peace with Ashley, saying: "I think that I am just about over it now. And I'm hopeful to go to Oz for the World Cup in 2027 as long as my passport remains intact."
