The incident at HMP Glenochil, Clackmannanshire, reportedly saw 35 inmates under the influence of drugs.
During the security breach, staff seized more drugs, weapons and mobile phones.
All prisoners hospitalised have since been reported and the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) said they were working with Police Scotland to take action against those breaching security.
