WORK has begun to demolish houses on "Britain's most flytipped street" - as residents give emotional farewells to their homes.

Tannahill Road in Paisley was consistently littered with rubbish, infested with rats and strewn with dumped carpets, beds and sofas.

It was once a proud neighbourhood with manicured gardens and spotless streets. But it was later abandoned after years of neglect forced out residents, one house at a time.

It then became a dumping ground for fly-tippers.
