THE man who led the EU's negotiations over Brexit was yesterday named prime minister of France.

Downing Street congratulated Michel Barnier on his appointment as Sir Keir Starmer continues efforts to reset the UK's relationship with the European Union.

Barnier, 73, led the EU team during the Brexit wrangles that resulted in the Trade and Co-operation Agreement (TCA).
